About me …..
HI, my name is Kylie and I am the owner / photographer at WonderLight
I am a Mum to 2 boys who were my inspiration to first buy a camera and learn the art of Photography.
The wonder of watching them grow whilst at the same time wondering what they will one day become, mix this with the essential ingredient for photography ‘Light’ and you have WonderLight Photography.
My husband and I have spent the better part of the past 20 years travelling and living overseas. First as young backpackers, and then later on with a young family in tow. We have lived in London, Peru, Samoa, Hanoi in Vietnam, Singapore then Hoi An in central Vietnam and all these places hold a very special place in my heart.
We LOVED the lifestyle that this gave us and the opportunity to see the world and watch our kids devour the wonder of travel whilst we also got to experience places and sites through through their eyes. What an honour it has been to expose our children to travel and the amazing things that abound from seeing the world outside your home country.
I have always loved photography, capturing a moment to remember always is something that fed my soul but I had never had the opportunity to really explore the craft with a DSLR. It was whilst living in Singapore when my youngest started full time school that I had endless hours on my hands. I first convinced my husband to let me buy my a DSLR and then I DEVOURED anything photography related that I could get my hands on. I enrolled in an online diploma and then practiced practiced practiced. I remember at one point I was so obsessed with learning this craft that in addition to eating and breathing photography I was also dreaming regularly about all things photography - lets just say I became obsessed.
The ex-pat community in Singapore always eager to capture their families for those at home, as well as the amazing scope of backdrops gave me the opportunity to take on actual clients and create and grow my business - something I will be forever grateful for.
It’s now been 4 1/2 years since I first held my brand new camera in my hand and I have invested in lenses, an upgraded body, courses, computer programs and many other essentials to now be able to comfortably and confidently capture families back here in Sydney and create memories that I hope my clients will treasure for generations to come.
My passion for photography runs deep, my personal circumstance mean I am all too aware of how short life can be, how if we blink it can pass us by. How often we only see the bills, and the work and laundry and the chores but don't always see the fun, the laughter, the love, the snuggles, the smaller moments that one day will be the BIG moments. Because of this I make my sessions fun, relaxed and often its a wonderful opportunity for you as a family to put everything else aside and focus for that period in time on what make YOUR family, to really BE present. Tickle your kids, cuddle your kids, watch then giggle as they run towards you to be chucked up in the air. My aim is that when you children look at their images they remember a really funny afternoon with their family creating magical moments, so they don’t just view the image they FEEL it and it makes them smile.
Our life is made up of 1000’s of moments, some big, some small but all are part of us, part of our story. You have the words to re-tell your families story, let me give you the pictures.
I still have my Grandmother’s wedding photos and often I sit and look at these with wonder at the young woman in the image that has her whole life ahead of her. What a gift that is to me, her granddaughter to see a snippet from her life, a moment in time that I can now look at whenever I choose.
The investment in family photography is one I promise you will never regret and will increase in personal value as the years go by.
I cant wait to have to opportunity to give you the pictures to help tell the story of YOUR life
