Family Sessions
My Family sessions are held in what we call ‘Golden hour’ which is the 1 - 1.5 hours prior to sunset (and if you are an early bird just after sunrise). This is when we get the most beautiful ambient light.
For my sessions, light is a REALLY important element and all the examples on my page are from sessions held in this time frame. I do understand that with small kids, depending on the time of year this might be less that ideal as it can clash with dinner time, bed time etc BUT for one night of the year please trust me that its worth it to keep them out of routine for your session.
I like to keep my images relaxed and fun - I want your kids to walk away with a big smile on their faces and a beautiful happy memory when they think about the session. A lot of the time often I have had Dad’s even say to me ‘Wow - that wasn’t half as bad as thought it would be - it was actually kinda fun’ - THAT folks is a huge compliment.
When your family view these images in the years to come - I don’t want them to just see an image but I want them to ‘feel a feeling’ a warmth and love from the memory they have of that time they got run around the beach / park with their family and talk about farts (or whatever it is that makes them giggle)
We always aim to capture what I call the ‘Grandma shots’ the ones where everyone is looking at the camera, and a close up and full body portrait of each of the kids but once this is all done and dusted I love nothing more than to just have FUN. Lots of running and throwing in the airs, tickles and giggles and if you are brave enough bring a towel and I love nothing more than seeing kids splashing and kicking in the water at the end of the session.
FUN is the name of the game to create authentic images and timeless memories.
